This year’s 2-day educational conference is an excellent opportunity for adoptive parents, adoption professionals, educators, medical practitioners, therapists, etc. to interact and examine the educational and developmental issues facing adoptees. Our theme this year, Focus on Education and Development: “Where we’ve come from…What lies ahead”, gives us the opportunity to reflect on the past, embrace the present, and celebrate the future of families and children touched by international adoption.
Recent events have made us all aware of the importance that parents reach out for guidance before, during and after returning home with their child. Getting the right information, and the right support, can make all the difference in how a parent handles a difficult situation! FRUA’s educational conference will provide that guidance!
Experts will speak on positive interventions relative to adoptive families, how to overcome educational challenges, impact of adoption on parents, attachment issues, auditory processing in internationally adopted children, etc. Workshops presented will offer an in-depth opportunity to learn more about development of internationally adopted children, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), updates in international adoption, sensory integration issues, and a “Dad’s Only” workshop.
New this year is a special “Teen Track”! Teens age 13-18 can sign up to participate on Saturday, Oct. 16th, with special workshops designed specifically for them!
